As the RAM modules become cheaper, you can build a PC with some consistent RAM, like 32GB or 64GB (even more if you want), then with the help of ImDisk you can create a virtual disk that can be monted in RAM. You choose how much you want (anyway, not more than your PC's or laptop's available RAM).
For an enterprise enviroment, a RAM Disk software is a gold mine: just try to imagine how could be to use a virtual disk or several virtual disks on a server with 256GB of RAM, or even 1TB of RAM. And how much speed you can get for your applications... Of course, any RAM Disk software, including ImDisk, have some limitations related to the size of virtual disks that can be created in RAM. But always are added improvements.
The interface of ImDisk is very intuitive. Also, you can use the video toturial from this post to create a RAM Disk, but I'm sure you'll not need it. In under one minute you virtual disk will be created in RAM. Then you can add what application you need into your new virtual disk, and you'll see a very huge difference, especially for applications that use very much the HDDs or SSDs, like Photoshop, After Effects, etc.
